Ingersoll Rand Two Stage Reciprocating Compressor Pressure Switch Replacement – 23474570
23474570 is an OEM pressure switch manufactured by Ingersoll Rand. This is a common pressure switch used on several two stage Ingersoll Rand reciprocating air compressors. The pre-set cut-in pressure is 145 psi and the cut-off pressure is 175psi providing a 30 psi pressure differential. This was most commonly used on their two stage pumps except the single phase 2340 model.
Note that this pressure switch does not include an on/off switch. This switch is only used on IR compressors that included a magnetic motor starter. There is a switch on the motor starter that is used to turn the compressor on and off.
This IR pressure switch utilizes 4 threaded ports on the bottom to attach the safety valve and pressure gauge. The unloader valve is swivel based and can be adjusted to fit the unloader tube if needed.
The pressure switch will often need to be replaced if the compressor does not turn on at the lower setpoint or does not turn off at the upper pressure setpoint causing the safety valve on the tank to pop. This results from the contacts being welded together over time. If you find your pressure switch is constantly leaking out of the unloader line, you should consider changing the check valve instead. Please call or email our parts department if you need help sourcing a check valve.
Plenty of aftermarket switches are sold online, but many of them are not rated for the full load amp draw of the compressor and will cause pre-mature wear to the switch. The OEM switch from Ingersoll Rand is rated for a higher amp draw and is much heavier duty compared to others.
This Ingersoll pressure switch was used on the following air compressors models:
